Blind walk 2025

Blind Walk is a global movement initiated in 2014 by the Rotary Midtown family clubs, and in 2025 it proudly marked the 10th edition of its impactful community initiative dedicated to supporting and empowering the blind and visually impaired community. Over the years, the project has evolved into a meaningful annual event conducted across multiple countries, spreading awareness, empathy, and compassion for individuals living without sight.

Blind Walk 2025 brought together more than 300 participants for a 1.5 km blindfolded walk along Green Path, where each participant was guided by a sighted partner. The experience allowed participants to understand the daily realities and challenges faced by visually impaired individuals, creating a powerful sense of empathy, inclusion, and social responsibility.

The initiative was organized collaboratively with Rotary, Rotaract, Interact clubs, corporates, and community organizations, uniting students, professionals, volunteers, and community leaders under one meaningful cause. The project successfully generated over 80,000 digital impressions through awareness campaigns and raised more than Rs. 500,000 to support eye-care and sight restoration initiatives.

As part of Phase Two, the project extended its impact by supporting visually impaired entrepreneurs through sustainable livelihood assistance in partnership with the Sri Lankan Federation of the Visually Handicapped. Five beneficiaries engaged in music, floriculture, sewing, and small business operations were selected to receive essential resources and equipment, reinforcing the project’s commitment to empowerment, inclusivity, and long-term community impact.
