GREENTIC 2.O

Greentic 2.0 was a two-phase environmental sustainability project implemented by the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo, Faculty of Management and Finance during the 2025–2026 Rotaract year. The initiative addressed plastic pollution through a strategic combination of awareness-building and practical waste management solutions.
The project began with Phase 1- Green Talks, an awareness session at the CIDA Auditorium, Colombo, with students from seven Interact Clubs. Experts from Hemas Holdings PLC and Plasticcycle (John Keells Group) shared insights on plastic waste management, sustainability practices, and responsible consumption, promoting youth engagement in environmental advocacy.
Following the awareness phase, Phase 2 – Trash It Right put knowledge into action by distributing ten recycling bins to selected schools, promoting proper plastic waste segregation. The initiative was supported by corporate sponsors and school collaborations, reinforcing shared environmental responsibility.
Greentic 2.0 aligned with key UN Sustainable Development Goals, including SDGs 11, 12, and 13. By integrating education, infrastructure, and partnerships, the project generated both immediate and long-term environmental impact.
Greentic 2.0 reflects a commitment to fostering sustainable behavioural change and empowering youth to lead environmental transformation within their communities.
