Lock&Trust

The project Lock&Trust was successfully implemented by the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance on 24th April 2026 under the Community Service avenue. The initiative introduced a secure locker facility consisting of 108 lockers within the faculty premises to address the increasing concern of theft incidents faced by undergraduates. The project was initiated following several unfortunate incidents, including the theft of a student’s laptop containing valuable academic work.

The lockers were installed near the faculty security area under proper supervision and monitoring procedures. Students can access the facility by verifying their student identity and recording their details at the security guard room before obtaining a locker key. Proper guidelines and key management systems were introduced to ensure responsible usage.

Beyond improving student security and convenience, the project also contributes towards social welfare by directing a Rs. 10 collection per use to the Faculty Free Meal Fund, supporting financially struggling undergraduates and creating a sustainable community-driven initiative.
