Try A Sport

Try A Sport was a community-driven initiative organized by the Rotaract Club of University of Colombo Faculty of Management and Finance under the Sports & Recreational Avenue with the aim of promoting sports participation among school children. The project was conducted at Janajaya Maha Vidyalaya, Moratuwa, addressing the lack of sports facilities and opportunities available to students.

On 31st March 2026, the club donated two netball posts, three netballs, 20 cones and several essential training materials, allowing students to experience netball for the very first time. Fourteen Rotaractors actively participated in the project, conducting interactive sessions to introduce children to the fundamentals of the sport while encouraging teamwork, confidence, and active participation.

RACUOCFMF managed all aspects of the initiative, including fundraising, sponsorship coordination, procurement, public relations, transport and event execution. The project successfully promoted inclusivity, youth empowerment, physical well-being and community engagement while creating a sustainable and meaningful impact on the students and school community.
